Weather Photos >> Funnel Cloud >> Morpeth, NSWMorpeth, NSW 5 July 2000
All of the photos below were taken on the 5th of July, 2000 between the times of 13:34 to 13:37 EST. These photos were taken from 5 klm east of Morpeth, NSW looking westward. This funnel cloud was of a land spout form, but I am uncertain whether it had touched the ground or not. This funnel cloud made the talk of the Maitland area for a few days and one of the words was that it touched the ground just near Rutherford, but I have nothing to confirm that.
The weather on this day was unsettled, with an onshore (southeast) wind blowing. It was partly cloudy, with many sunny breaks. Cumulus and some small areas of cumulonimbus were present. There were isolated showers in some areas of the Lower Hunter, but there was no hail or thunder observed.
