    Morpeth area, NSW
    13 November 1998

Many areas of Maitland were hit by a thunderstorm that developed during the afternoon on the 13 November, 1998. A weak cell passed through Morpeth at 1525, but quickly dissipated. However, another thunderstorm developed quickly soon after over the western areas of Maitland. This storm travelled from the south west to the north east, so therefore much of Maitland was hit by moderate precipitation, strong winds and a bit of hail. The worst effected suburbs were Morpeth, Raworth and Tenambit, which all received 2 - 3cm hail, 85 km/h winds from a microburst and heavy precipitation. Minor flash flooding had occurred as a result of the heavy rain.
